Mustangs Stomp Seminole

Skye Green scored on touchdown runs of 43 and 56 yards Friday night to pace Sweetwater’s 41-14 over Seminole in their 3A Division II bi-district playoff game at Ratliff Stadium.
Green, a sophomore, finished with 108 yards on six carries to lead the Mustangs (9-2) in the second round of the playoffs.
Kendal Carillo, Alan Copeland and Russell Clayton also scored on offense for Sweetwater, with Brandon Fangman returning a punt for another score.
Jeremy Hill carried the ball 26 times for 185 yards and two first-half touchdowns for the Indians (5-6). However, he was slowed by a hit in the third quarter and the Seminoles’ offense sputtered after that.
“I am so proud of the way the kids battled tonight,” Sweetwater coach Kent Jackson said. “Seminole came prepared to play and took advantage of everything in the first half.
“I thought that getting the tying touchdown with 30 seconds in the first half was key, but so was the defensive stand after we turned the ball over on our first possession in the third quarter.”
After recovering a Mustangs’ fumble on the Sweetwater 44, the Indians could only move six yards before a bad snap turned the ball back over to Sweetwater.
Thompson then directed a six-play, 52-yard drive, capped by Carillo’s 34-yard run, to put the Mustangs ahead for good.
