Final "tune-up"

Friday, the Mustangs travel to Levelland (ugh) and take on the Levelland Loboes for their final tune-up before district play next week.

I'm looking forward to listening to the game on my computer as KXOX does a great job of putting the games on the internet. Just wanted to say how neat technology is, and I would have never imagined I would ever be able to hear a Mustang game in Levelland while being in Fort Worth. Computers and technology are wonderful things.

I read in the SWEETWATER REPORTER that Ty Jones and James Beckwith were injured and that Beckwith is probable for this week's game. Kendall Mayes will take over Jones' spot at tackle. Justin Rodriguez will play at Duone Cunnings spot at right cornerback, and J.J. McCoy will start at strong safety in place of Kendal Carrillo.

David Covington was brought up from the JV team to do the punting chores.

Shawn Kincaid is now the Mustang back up quarterback behind Sonny Birdwell.

Joseph (Batman) Banyard has played the previous two games at strong safety, but has been moved back to linebacker this week.

So lot's of adjustments for the Mustangs. That's ok, that's what good teams do. I think the Mustangs are fortunate to have the number of talented athletes to continue the drive to the district games and all should be fine.

When I think about it, this game against Levelland will provide the Mustangs for a final tune-up for the game with Abilene Wylie when they come to town next week. When our injured players do get back in the lineup, we will be that much ahead for playing folks to get some experience. It's a win-win deal.

Lew,
Just for the record, Bull(Beckwith) is not playing tonight. Hopefully he will be ready for the BIG ONE next week.

Thanks for the update Guy. Please tell the "Bull" we are pulling for him and hope to see him next week.
