On the road again, Andrews

Dear Sweetwater Mustang fans,
I was trying to analyze the Andrews game on Friday, and I have to admit I don't think I'm going to be any good as far as statistics. The Leaderboard here says that Andrews as a team has only rushed for 69 yards on 24 attempts. Maybe Andrews just started sending in their numbers, sounds like it may be for 1 game.
It looks like Sweetwater leads all area teams in 3A in team rushing with 796 yards on 89 attempts for an average of 8.9 yards per carry. That's pretty impressive huh? As best as I can tell, here is the breakdown per player:
K. Carrillo 104 yards on 14 carries
D. Cunnings 86 yards on 8 carries
J. Banyard 62 yards on 8 carries
S. Birdwell 53 yards on 4 carries
J. Limones 38 yards on 8 carries
S. Green 27 yards on 5 carries
J. Adames 12 yards on 2 carries
Rosas 11 yards on 3 carries
Total 393 yards on 52 carries
Well, that doesn't add up either.
Here's what we do know. It looks like Sweetwater has 8 possible ball carriers. Plenty of horses to carry the load. We have 2 very capable quarterbacks that can handle the snaps. I understand Kendall Carrillo will be out a few weeks due to an injury. My point is he will certainly be missed, but it isn't the end of the world, or season.
One of the things that Coach Jackson has built in to this team, is a whole lot of talent at different positions. I understand from a pretty reliable source that some folks were trying to predict how many games Carrillo was going to be out, and he hadn't even had an MRI done yet!
Folks, there is no reason to push the panic button. Sweetwater has a pretty complete team and hopefully, things will continue as scheduled until Carrillo makes it back for the playoffs if not sooner.
Andrews.
I would like to suggest to Coach Jackson that if the team isn't already doing so, put on a nice shirt and tie when you board the bus to Andrews. Why? Because this is a business trip. To the Mustang football team. Just do like you have been trained to do. Take care of business and everything is ok. Stay in the game. You will be fine.
Andrews has alot of things it can improve upon. Be sure and exploit them. Andrews should be considered as a cornered animal. It has no place to go, they might be pretty dangerous. I don't know how they got to schedule 6 games at home, and 4 games away, but they did.
Just stick to what Coach Jackson tells ya, you will be fine. Please remember one thing for me though. YOU ARE ALL STARS!!!!!!!
Sic 'em!!!

Paul,
Thanks for your nice comment, I really appreciate it. Yes, I am also looking forward to Homecoming next week. Maybe I can come by your room and get the latest copy of the PONY EXPRESS. I just want to also compliment you Paul, for keeping that rag alive. I think the PONY EXPRESS is a very valuable piece of tradition at SHS. Keep up the good work, and hope to see you next week.

Well Lew We fully intended to be at Homecoming However, I guess Rita rained on our parade. It is our 60th wedding anniversary on Friday. I called all around Sweetwater and they do not have housing.
Everything, tell me, is booked clear up as far as Lubbock. I was really looking forward to it but we just could come with no hopes of housing.
Enjoy it all for us.

Looks like my previous comment was erased. What I said was that we were really looking forward to being at Homecoming. However, because of Rita, we could not find a motel room. Really disappointed!!!
Hope you have a good Homecoming and, as always, hope the Mustangs win.
It is our 60th wedding anniversary so it would have been a nice celebration. Sorry, we were really looking forward to it.
