Dear Mustangs,

I just wanted to post a note to say thanks for all the feed back and for all the comments. I also want to say thanks for folks e-mailing me useful information. I really appreciate it.

I am now in my Homecoming mode, and trying to think on a good entry for posting a Homecoming entry for this week. If anyone has any animated gif files of horses or mustangs, send them to me at LRPatton@aol.com. Make sure they have a web address as I can not cut and paste on to here like I could last year. If anyone has a regular gif file, you can send that too if you want to see it on here. I am really encouraged we have more viewers here than last year. The word is getting out and that's a good thing.

This is going to be a special week. It's Homecoming!!!!
It was really good to hear from Paul Nash. He is the journalism teacher at SHS. Everytime I go home for homecoming, I always drop by the journalism department to see if Paul will give me a copy of the PONY EXPRESS. I have often wondered if there was a journalism student who wanted to help on this blog. It doesn't pay much but it's alot of fun and can afford some experience. If this sounds like a good idea, e-mail me and introduce yourself.

Speaking of Homecoming, I plan to get into town there Friday in time for some Allen's Chicken. I can't tell ya'll how much I like that place. Then it's off to find some up-to-date Mustang T-shirts to wear to the game and put a couple in storage for collection purposes. Then I guess by the time that's done we will line up on Broadway for the parade. We like to hang out at the old Star's parking lot. I can't think of the name of the Mexican food restaurant that is there now. Last year, Clifford Ashley met us up there and he even brought his trumpet. He even played a little Peruna for us after the parade was over. That was really neat. After the parade, it's a trip to the high school cafeteria to see who all has made it to town. Perhaps I can see my elementary school principal and now good friend Mr. Jerry Smith. What a great man and a great friend he is. We always like to look at the class of 1970 and find a skinny kid with hair there and laugh about how much I have changed.

And then, we get to go to the bowl, get our tickets, and get ready for one of the best things all year. See the Sweetwater Mustangs win another game!!!

Maybe the boys will come down the south ramp this time? Just a thought.

Well, enough about it now......I'll try and write much more this week.

Go Red,

Gig 'em! Sic 'em

Lew,
Can't wait till Homecoming. Just to let you know, the parade will have to go down Elm street because of construction on Broadway. You'll see when you get to town. It's a big mess!

The Mexican food place is named Tita's, not that it matters with the "Nightmare" construction going on.

Wish I could hear "Buzz" from the band just one more time! Couldn't Pat wear out those trumpeteers' tongues waiting for the boys to come onto the field! Good memories!

BTW, Clifford lives in Sweetwater now---saw him on a big ole hog a few weeks ago.

And we're still making memories here in Sweetwater. Go Red!

Thanks Lew, for the account of the Mustang game with Pecos. I love your writings. Our hearts were a little heavy because we could not be there. However, the great victory made me feel a little better. I used to make home delivery for Vandervort's Dairies all over Sweetwater. Also delivered the Abilene Reporter News. I love where I live now but will never forget Sweetwater. Go Mustangs!!! Once a Mustang.....well you know how that goes.
