Final - Sweetwater 20, Clyde 13

OK, let me set the scene for you.

This was the last home game for alot of seniors.

Sweetwater had just played the most emotional game of the year last week. I'll have to check, but I think Clyde had the week off last week, but I'll check that.

We had Kendal Carrillo back from injury as well as Ty Jone...good to have them back.

The game started in normal Sweetwater fashion. We held Clyde to 3 and out and on the 2nd offensive play for the Mustangs, Skye Green ran for like 68 yards for the Mustangs 1st touchdown...Mustangs 7-0 and I'm feeling pretty good. Things seemed pretty normal with Sweetwater going in at the half 20-0.

Let me mention I have never critisized the refs in any games this year. I don't like to complain like that. But in all candor, there was one official that seemed to call everything against the Mustangs. Now all of this is according to the very good broadcasters at KXOX.
Clyde scored, and then on their second touchdown, their quarterback fumbled the ball and we recovered..but the official said he was in the end zone before the fumble. They missed the extra point, and that's how the score stayed until the finish, 20-13.

Let me make an observation here. Yes, I know the second half was a little rough. But it sounded to me as though Clyde did alot of work in the film room. It seems like they knew which plays were coming. That's just my opinion. I'm going to have to read the breakdown on the game...but we came pretty close to this being a desperate situation.

Now bear in mind, I'm not pointing the finger at anyone right now..except that one official, but this was much closer than it should have been. But like J.B. says, a win is a win...but something wasn't right here. I'm going to be very interested to dig deeper in this game to see what I can find out on it. Another factor that I think was huge here was Clyde was playing for it's life. Now you all know after the Snyder game last week, I don't think we had the sense of urgency that Clyde had.

The bottom line is we won, and I just think Clyde was in panic mode more than us...which is a natural feeling I think..I certainly wasn't in panic mode until the 4th quarter. What I am trying to say is, I think it was just one of those freaky things...that wouldn't happen again if we played Clyde 10 straight times.

I think everything is fine, but it bothers me that Clyde seemed to know what was coming...and I don't know if it's based on formations or what. But it just felt like we were tipping them off.

Good job Mustangs. You won.....congrats!

I'll have some video of the game up shortly.

What happened, Lew? A "W" is a "W" but it was a lot closer then I expected. Just wait for the story. Lew will tell us.

Anyway the Mustangs won and we'll take it.

Thanks for the report, Lew. It is so great to have you to rely on. The score kinda makes me wonder if Coach Jackson held back a little for reasons only he would know. You don't want to tip your hand to your first round apponent in the play-offs. Maybe that and maybe something else. Whatever it was, thanks for you report. It is always read with great interest.
