Here is a funny story about last night's game.

I listened to the game on the internet (thanks KXOX) and they introduced the officials for the game. The referee for the game was none other than Van Newberry out of the Abilene chapter.

Van Newberry and I worked together in Sweetwater in 1973 to 1975 when we were at HCC Credit Co. Van was the assistant branch manager and Ralph Tatum was the branch manager.

Van was a great guy to work with and when I heard him introduce himself and call the coin toss with the captains of each team, I knew we were going to have a good game and a fair game called for this game. Van is a great guy. It is good to know he is still involved with sports.

The game was everything it was billed to be. At the end of the game one team went to the opponenets side for each school alma mater. This showed a lot of class on both teams part. Had to have a bit of positive adult leadership there. The only confusing play was the pass, that was intercepted late in the 4th. Go stangs.........

I do love this site. I can't help but envy you folks that get to see this team play each week. This site makes me feel like a part of everything. I was a student at Sweetwater High School many years ago. I am a "died in the wool" Mustang fan. I really want to see this team win state. When this team plays it's best nobody in AAA can beat them. The loss to Wylie I regard as something of a fluke. Like Lew I respect them but am not afraid of them.
Thanks Lew for all you do. Appreciate it very much.

Yes sir J.B., You are very welcome and I really appreciate your comments. Just glad to be a part of it.

Not trying to challenge what you are saying, but I think Abilene Wylie may be better than last year. Really and truly, I don't think it will be very long before they move up to 4A.
