FINAL:::: Sweetwater 38, Littlefield 20

Dear Mustang fans....

This game was TOUGH!!

I know the score doesn't indicate it, but it was a tough game!

I listened to the game via the internet, and we were down 14-7 at the half. They interviewed Coach Jackson at halftime as he was leaving the field and the reporter asked him what he thought of the game so far?

Coach Jackson't response was, "I don't know if the kids read too many of the newspapers, or read too much off the internet, but these Littlefield players can play!!!"

Sweetwater came back out and took control in the 3rd quarter. The Mustangs score 14 unanswered points, and in the 4th quarter, essentially played keep away from the Littlefield offense, and I believe scored the remaining 17 points in the 4th quarter.

Let me just say this Mustang fans. I didn't want to predict this score this morning. I thought the Mustangs were ok emotionally wise, but I diodn't want to say I thought they were going to win by 2 touchdowns as everyone in the newspapers in Amarillo, and Odessa/Midland were predicting. Littlefield was a very good team. They did things that I think was somewhat of a surprise to Sweetwater. In the 1st half, they completed a 50 yard pass to make the score 14-7 Littlefield. This game could have been a disaster for our Mustangs.

There is a lesson to be learned here...and I had to learn it earlier this week. That lesson is, be careful what you say and write about when you are talking about 16-18 year old kids. I think sometimes we put too much pressure on our boys. I'm not blaming anyone here, but I think Coach Jackson said it best when he said after the game he told the boys at half time to have FUN!!!!

Isn't this what it's all about?

Go Mustangs...Great Job!!!!

I said Littlefield was going down and down they went. Tough bunch (and they had me scared with that early 7 to 14 score) but the Mustangs had too much talent. Will be anxious to read first hand accounts of the game. Especially yours, Lew.

Way to go Mustangs. On to state!!!!

HAVE BEEN DOWN FOR A BIT, BUT NOT OUT. A MINOR MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT, IT IS PREVENTING ME FROM GOING TO GAMES, BUT NOT LISTENING TO THEM ON THE RADIO. I HOPE THE STANGS CAN SOLIDIFY A PASSING GAME. I THINK THIS MIGHT BE KEY TO GOING ALL THE WAY. I AM HOPING TO BE WELL ENOUGH TO MAKE THE STATE PLAYOFFS...GREAT JOB ALL YEAR LEW....
