Thanks again to Kevin (Spinnr1) of the Pony Express for his great write-up and pictures of the scrimmage between the Mustangs and Vernon. Here is his report:
The free play period went as follows.
The Lions got the ball first and put together a long slow drive eating a large chunk of the clock. they fumbled the ball awith about 6:00 on the clock. The Mustangs started kind of slow getting a false start called right out of the gate. Sweetwater punted the ball awith 4:00 on the clock, a high short kick which I have come to expect out of our punt team at times. Vernon took over at about 3:31 on our side of the field and drove to the redzone followed by a Qb scramble for 6 at 2:03 the Stangs took over and had a couple good plays Namely back to back runs from Steven Fields, and Auston Davis respectively. the stangs got inside the Lions 35 with 53 seconds left and ran a couple plays that ate at the clock. finally throwing a pass from Zach Birdwell to KeKe Wallace that landed us on the goal line (I say he landed in the end zone but I was not a ref) with 3 seconds left we lofted a pass to KeKe Wallace again just out of bounds
Photos are coming.
