Tigers on a roll

The tigers rolled into last fridays game sporting a 2 - 0 district record. That record now stands at 3 - 0. The tigers defense stood tough. Arce, Ramos, Haechten, Jones, Reyna, Bounds, Jaques and Lewis shut that runnin bearcat down. A team that had been averaging over 200 yards per game rushing was limited too less than 100. What a job D!

The Offense was rolling much better this week. The 16-8 score did not represent the game very well. At no time was the game in question. 3 Touchdowns were called back and one called a touchdown overruled by a Referee across the field. Never quite understood that one, but, the Tigers held strong and moved the ball better this last week.

This week is Stamford. The Bulldogs are hungry for there first district win. This team has a new offense that can rack up yards and points in a hurry. It will be another test for that TIGER D. With signs of life from our offense last week the Tigers are starting too roll at just the right time. Come out and support our Anson Tigers. By the way it is ok too yell!

DEFENSE, DEFENSE, DEFENSE

The Coahoma bulldogs came to town this past friday night. It turned out to be a defensive struggle. The Tigers intercepted the ball on the first play from scrimmage and could do nothing with the turnover. It was a sign of things to come. We could move the ball up and down the field, we just could not get into the endzone. After missing an extra point and allowing the Dawgs to score the Tigers were down 7-6 late in the fourth. A fumble return for a touchdown late in the game by Trenton Bounds saved the offensive drought for the Tigers. The final score was Anson 12 and Coahoma 7.

Coahoma is probably the best 1-6 team in the state. The film that I had watched on the team in no way did justice to this defense. They came in to Tiger stadium ready to play. With a loss to Ccity and Anson the Bulldogs are 0-2 in district play, but don't be surprised if you see them in the playoffs.

The Tigers have to work on the Red Zone Offense, counting to two, silly penalties, and turnovers. The Tigers are 2-0 in district play for the first time in I don't know when. The defense again kept the other team out of the endzone. The Bulldogs had a little more offensive yardage than the Tigers normally give up. The bright spots for the Tiger were a little improvement in route running, pass blocking, and catching the ball. The line did pretty well again this week!

This week the Tigers face an improved Hawley team. The game is at Hawley at 7:30 this friday night. Come out and support the Tigers on the way to a district championship.

One Down Four to GO!!!

Well the Tigers came away with a victory last friday night. Not by as much as we would have liked, but it was a win. The Tiger D stood strong the entire game. I believe Stanton had scored at least 14 points on every other opponent this year. Not friday night! The only score that the Buffs had was a 99 yard interception return. The Tigers held the Buffaloes to 63 total yards of offense.

The next step for these Tigers on the way to a district title is Coahoma. The bulldogs come to town with a 1-5 record and a 0-1 record in district play. The Tigers now 3 and 3 and 1-0 in district play. The Defense led by Arce, Jones, Reyna, Lewis, Haechten, Ramos and Robinson and that O line is makin this Tiger team one to watch. Come out and support the Tigers on there way to the 4-2a title.

This is the year of the TIGER!

District Begins

This week the Tigers host the Stanton Buffaloes. The Buffaloes come into tonights game winless in regular season play. While the Tigers have a record of 2-3.

Last weeks game was all that we excpected. Defense, Defense, Defense. The Tigers lost a close one to the State ranked Indians. The Indians had not scored less than 30 points on any opponent all season and the Tigers held them to 13 points. That without a starting quarterback and safety.

With injuries healed and everyone ready for district play the Tigers are back on the prowl. Tonights district opener should be a good one for the Tigers. This team seems to bounce back strong after tough games. Come out and support the Tigers this weekend at the district opener.
