OBSERVATIONS FROM SATURDAY

The opening week of the 2008 football season won't go down in history like last year (App State - Michigan upset)...but it was still a great few days of football - especially in HD!!
- Very impressed with Florida's defense. They really fly around and swarm to the ball. Ditto for USC. I could tell a difference in intensity between those two school's defensive performances and Ohio State's and Georgia's.
- Colt McCoy did nothing to hurt his Heisman campaign. Great performance against a team that is much better than people give them credit for.
- Wasn't impressed with Auburn's offense. Texas Tech transfer Chris Todd seemed to move the ball better than highly touted Kodi Burns. Auburn has a HUGE stable of very good running backs and a great defense.
- Knowshon Moreno is the man. Georgia RB can really move.
- How about La-Tech, East Carolina and Bowling Green? So much for Pittsburgh being a surprise team - at least North Carolina was able to win.
- Mark Sanchez is also looking pretty good in the Heisman race after his game against Virginia. USC is incredible.
- Clemson and Texas A&M sure lived up to their billing of being over-rated. Alabama's freshmen that were supposed to make an impact next year are going to make an impact this year. Alabama is good...really good. And, no, Arkansas State is not good...A&M must really be terrible. But they'll still beat OU, Tech or UT, just watch.
- Missouri is alot better than I gave them credit for. They really handed it to a good Illinois team. I was surprised.
- Taylor Potts didn't get in the game against E. Washington, but Lyle Leong had one reception for 32 yards. Tech is at Nevada next week.
We have a good weekend coming up, high school and college. Plus the Cowboys play on Sunday!
