SHORT WEEK STARTED EARLY FOR EAGLES

If you're Steve Warren and the Abilene High Eagles, it must be nice to be able to start a short week early.
The Eagles play on Thursday night this week. You wouldn't think that one day would mess up things too much, but you'd be surprised how much it can effect a team.
Usually teams do their tough, full pad workouts on Monday and Tuesday. The practices are long, hard and your body hurts when they're over.
On Wednesday, practice is generally a little shorter and you just wear shoulder pads and helmets and lose the full contact.
Thursday is a "helmet-only" day when you do a length walk through and go over special teams.
If you drop one of those days it can throw a wrench in the routine a team has built up over a season. It will be a more mental thing than anything else.
That being said, the Eagles didn't have to play the final two quarters of their game tonight which means they will at least have more time to recover physically for next week.
Players are usually pretty sore on Saturday morning and most of the day Sunday, but only playing a half will be a huge advantage for a short week since most of the players will be fully recovered by Sunday morning.
They'd win 49-7 on Thursday even if they played on Monday night...so I guess it doesn't really matter that much.
