HARRELL STILL HAS A SHOT

Graham Harrell has signed with the Canadian Football League's Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Just a few months after hitting Michael Crabtree with seconds left to upset #1 Texas, Harrell went from a serious Heisman contender, to being passed up in the NFL draft, to being denied a contract after spending some time with the Cleveland Browns, to the CFL.

I just don't get it.

Harrell is college football's all-time leading TD leader with 134, and he's second in career passing yards.

Harrell left high school (Ennis) as the state's career passing leader, career TD leader, and high up on the list on several other categories.

He knows how to throw a football.

And I think the NFL will eventually realize that not giving Harrell a shot is a mistake and will give him a chance in the future.

My prediction is that Harrell will follow in the footsteps of Doug Flutie and Warren Moon and end up as an NFL starter one of these days.

I met Harrell a few weeks ago and watched him throw to an ACU tight end. He's impressive in person. Not a huge physical presence, but he just looks like he was made to throw a football.

I give him tons of credit for not getting totally discouraged and just quitting all together. He'll succeed in the CFL, and if he stays healthy, will be wearing an NFL jersey before his career is over.
