LONGHORNS CAPITALIZE ON TIME SAVED FROM NO BOWL

Another way to put that is...the Texas Longhorns absolutely had to respond in a big way after their first losing season since 1997 and not playing in a bowl game.
Such a task might have seemed insurmountable to most of the country, but let's not forget - this is Texas, the cash cow of all college football, the program that single handedly determines the conference fates of schools in every state, the team that is about to announce a 300 million dollar TV deal with ESPN for a 24-hour network.
Anyway, that insurmountable response was achieved and surpassed by what (who) the Longhorns were able to add to the coaching staff.
We know UT is going to have a top 5 recruiting class...that's given. But check out the new coaches...
Bryan Harsin - Boise State's offensive coordinator the last five years, he played QB for BSU and spent 10 years as a GA and assistant there. He'll be the co-offensive coordinator in Austin along with Major Applewhite. Harsin will coach QBs and call the plays. Huge.
Manny DIaz - Mississippi State's DC last year (and only last year). He's an up-and-comer with tons of upside. He was UT's first choice to replace Will Muschamp.
Bo Davis - defensive line coach at Alabama will be the defensive tackles coach at UT. Another young, energetic addition.
Jerry Gray - comes over the Seattle Seahawks. He was a great player at Texas and will be the new defensive backs coach taking over for Duane Akina who left for Arizona.
Darrell Wyatt - was the co-offensive coordinator at Kansas but also spent four years coaching receivers at OU. He'll be the receivers coach and be a major recruiter. He's a big reason you saw so many great Texas players on the Jayhawks roster.
Benny Wiley - Don't even know where to begin on this one. You could tell me that Benny was from Greenland and had never played football in his life. But one look at the guy in action and I'd pay him to do whatever the heck he told me to pay him to do. Google him. He's an absolute monster and will be the strength and conditioning coach. I've also known his brother-in-law since I was 11.
HUGE moves from Texas to go along with the #2 recruiting class in the country. I'd be shocked if Texas didn't win 10 games next year.
Signing day is right around the corner!
