LOOKING BEHIND

Colt McCoy and the Longhorns have done a pretty good job of not looking ahead this season ... and they've had 2 or 3 good opportunities to do so.

However, this will be the toughest week so far to try to avoid that very human response. A win and it's on to the Big Kahuna of all college games in Pasadena - the one for all those previously mentioned marbles.

I think Vince Young is even excited about it, judging by the way he's been playing lately.

But the Nebraska Cornhuskers are zeroed in squarely on this week. A national audience and an upset victory would do a world of good for recruitment and morale. I have pulled an old photo out of the archives and added Bo Pelini's face in honor of the occasion. Worked last time with Bill Callahan.

So, here's the weekly 20-second sermon: "Look Behind, not Ahead". Look at last year and the disappointment that came from some amount of looking ahead. Look behind even farther to get fired up. Remember, the last two meetings with the 'Huskers have been determined by 5 points total - 28-25 in 2007 and 22-20 the year before. This game will probably be tougher than the A&M game because of one final week of pressure before the big pay-off.

OK, that was more than 20 seconds, but I kept looking ahead.

(BTW: 17 photos from the Aggie game are in the slideshows now).
