Kudos for the big man

Here's a big congrats to big Demetrius Gore himself for his performance against Del Rio last Friday night. Despite playing in another country, Gore managed to relentlessly pound the Rams and lead his team to a victory. Of course, as I'm sure Mr. Gore would tell you... this was a TEAM effort. Praise goes out the defensive secondary who might as well have been wearing ski masks out there because they were thieves. Their play gave the Cougars great field position and made the job of the offense a lot easier.

Speaking of offense, I'm pretty sure that Gore doesn't do much of anything on the ground if it isn't for his offensive line. The big eaters up front have continued to improve every week of the year and it shows. In fact, everyone appears to be improving. Chris Hall seems more comfortable in the offense and his seemingly endless supply of receivers continue to better themselves as well. It just seemed like all phases of the game were really clicking against Del Rio and they have to continue that way with a tough opponent coming to town.

San Angelo Central will be another very good test for the Coogs. You need to look no further than their game last week against Midland High to see how good the Bobcats can be. Despite what the final score may lead you to believe, Central played MHS a lot closer than the Bulldogs would have liked. I would expect no less from a team coached by a man named Bellard.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention... THE COOGS ARE PLAYING AT HOME! Finally, at long last the Cougars will make their way home to the friendly confines of Shotwell Stadium... for Homecoming no less. So everybody get out there and support the Coogs. They have had a tough and exhausting start to the season and they deserve our support in the stands.

God Bless and GO COOGS!
