Speedy recovery

There have been some ups and downs so far in this young season, but there has been one constant... the running of Jerry Harper. Unfortunately, his big game against Mansfield Summit wasn't quite enough to pull the Cougars to a W, but it was just enough to secure a win against Brownwood. So you can imagine the thoughts racing through the minds of Cougar fans when we saw our star RB down on the field after another huge run. We eased up a bit when we saw Jerry get up and walk back to the sideline unassisted only to have our hearts come crashing back down to learn he may have a broken arm.

Jerry is a workhorse. He'll carry the ball wherever and whenever you want. He refuses to go down showing a balance and tenacity not often seen on the high school level. He is a truly special player, but he is just one player... he is not the TEAM. There are more than 50 other kids on varsity who are prepared to raise their game a bit to make up for any losses.

It remains to be seen just how serious Mr. Harper's injury is and how much time it could cause him to miss. What we do know is that the Coogs will get their first real test of their motto... No Matter What, because it doesn't matter who is out of the game or what is going on, these kids are going to push on and keep fighting. Improving every step of the way... No Matter What.

Get well soon Jerry.

God Bless and GO COOGS!
