Cougars are hungry for some Steer meat tonight...

Hey there Cougar fans and once its again I'm here to give you the lowdown on what the Coogs are up to this week. Its another road trip for the Coogs as they make their way to Big Spring to play the Steers. This should be another game in which the Steers who have tremendous speed and a pretty decent quarterback should keep it close at least through the first half. I suspect some of that speed will be gassed by the second half the game and with a very speedy Coog defense that likes to lay out monstrous hits the speed might disappear completely. I'm expecting to see another big game from Amon Pimpton who looks like he's well on his way to breaking every record Cooper might have. With an offensive line that is physically dominating any and all comers Pimpton should have a really productive game.

I've been saying it every week, and maybe this week it might happen, I would like to see the other side of the spread offense start to click. I would like to see the Coogs air out the ball a little bit more than what they have been doing. Eventually the Coogs are going to run into a lot stiffer competition and defenses. Pimpton has been a suprise but like all great players he can be neutralized and defensive coaches in our district and other likely playoff bound teams are likely coming up with multiple scenarios for Pimpton. I also think its important to get Hyslep some much needed confidence in throwing to his talented recieveing core. He's kinda like Brett Favre in that he will generally throw an interception at least once in the game. Right now thats not hurting us too much but when we start playing better teams in playoffs the kind of mistakes are going to knock the Coogs out. The Coogs can secure a playoff spot tonight if they win, what seed they are will be decided next week by the outcome of Cooper vs Frenship, with Plainfield ending out the regular season.

For those making the trip to Big Spring be careful driving and watch out for deer along the road, and enjoy another Cougar Friday night.

can we get better coverage of stats and scores for coopers 4a district? Check out stats at lonestarvarsity.com (note from blogger: There are plenty of stats on the gofridaynight web page for any (district) 4A school, its seems redundant to go back over all the information again. When playoffs roll around I'll start going more out of my way to get Cougar standings around the state in relation to other teams. But all the teams in the district you can get off gofridaynight.com so no I will not post stats.)
