Are we the same or better?

With the start of the season just around the corner against Austin Westlake, the same question gets asked every year: Are we going to be as good as or better than we were last year? With Taylor Potts and Lyle Leong and numerous other players headed off to college to continue their football careers, the younger players must step up and take on the high expectations the coaches have set for them head strong. And every year the bar gets raised higher and higher. This year is no different. Coming off of back to back District Championship seasons, the bar has been set for a three-peat. Something Abilene High hasn’t done in 50 years. Could this possibly be another great chapter for this Dynasty Era for the Eagles? I sure hope so. With Spens Lackey taking the reigns for this season of Eagle Football, I have high expectations for this year’s team. The Pre-District games will be challenging, but the Eagles will soar with nothing getting in their way.

I feel that the team has a tremendous amount of talent, and many team members are starting this year that didn't have that privelege last year. We will be productive overall throughout the season if together the Eagles find a way to induce team synergy, and have 11 guys running to the ball on defense, taking their angles, and forcing sacks by holding up the opposing quarterback with good secondary coverage. If the offense keeps the chains moving, makes correct pre/post snap reads, and works to prevent turnovers through good decisions based on composure we will be great. Thank you--great blog.
