District Play Right Around The Corner

By David Craghead

Only one more week before the opening of district play against Midland High. The first part of this season wasn’t exactly what you would call the normal Abilene High Eagles. But with the win against Denton Ryan gave the Warbirds a little momentum before heading into next week. Generally when you look at a team with a 1-4 record, you pass them off. This isn’t the case for Abilene High. Our losses have come from miscues on all sides of the ball. We have grown since the Westlake game tremendously. Our special teams have picked up better than I could have hoped for. The defensive and offensive sides of the ball have also picked up. But I still noticed during the Denton game that we are not communicating the way we should. With this week off, I am sure that we gelled together and are at our full potential. And we have to be at that stage in order to face a tough Bulldog team. I am really looking forward to this game and have been since last year. I am really looking forward to seeing how dangerous the Warbirds can really be. All of the records that each team put up for the first half of the season do not matter anymore. It all comes down to this. GO EAGLES!!

Here is how District 3-5A will start out:

Midland High (3-2) at Abilene High (1-4)
Cooper (3-2) at Odessa High (1-4)
Odessa Permian (3-2) at Midland Lee (2-3)

What can I say I warned yall. District is just around the corner and yall have only won one game, Talk about your confidence boosters. Like I said, Lackey is Terrible. There is a nice place for him, right next to the JV players in the stands. Thats where he belongs. I am tellin ya, Warren needs to bring the kid up. How about the play of my boy Zack Stewart. Just a heads up guys, The old red and blue has the QB this year, and yall don't stand a chance as long as Lackey is Quarterback. Consider yourselves warned.

sorry Cougfan but you give true Cougar fans a bad name with your ignorant comments. The truth is the Eagles faced much better competition than we did. I believe this year the race for the district title is wide open and that includes the Eagles. I pray that Spradlin and the Coogs don't take Abilene High as lightly as you do or we will be in for a long night come November 3rd.

Sorry, Man I just tell it like it is.
I rooted for yall all of last year. I'm Sorry, I just don't see what I saww last year. I see a cocky kid at quarterback that has absolutely nothing to be cocky about. He couldn't even hold Stewarts Jock Strap. Hiis dad's even worse, he thinks his son should be an NFL QB. Sorry Johnny, not your son. Perhaps a towel boy. I know this is just trash talk but have a little common sense. The kid can't handle the pressure. He just needs to get out of the way so Warrren's boy can get better. THats all there is to it.

cougfan, you're gig is up. You're clearly the Warren boy's son so just suck it up, quit being jealous of Spens Lackey, and do your best as the number 2 QB to get your team ready for your next district opponent. At least you're ahead of Harrison. on the brightside, you can at least look forward to starting your senior year when Lackey graduates. If you can't wait that long, then beat him out straight up or move to another position.
