I Find It Amazing....

I find it absolutely amazing how well our defense adjusts in the second half. Going into the half tied 21 to 21, I thought that it would be a shootout unless our D picked up the pace. Looking back on the first half, we should have gone into the locker-room up 21 to 7 or 21 to 14. I knew that this game would be full of emotions and sure enough it was. Polaris Haynes was over-run with emotion and got a 15 yard penalty thrown on him which later resulted in a touchdown for Cooper. Two of Cooper’s touchdowns could have been avoided easily. But I am still VERY happy with the fact that we keep the bragging rights for another year. I am also VERY happy that we keep the BELL! For the third year in a row the Bell stays black and gold. What a great accomplishment for this group of players. The very tough pre-district schedule certainly paid off.
I find it absolutely amazing that we only threw the ball 9 times the whole game. What a great job by the Offensive Line. As a former lineman, I am always happy when a W comes by way of the O Line. They did a great job opening up holes for Williams, Flye, Lackey, Walker, and on the goal line for Chris Williams. Our running game was awesome.
I find it absolutely amazing how many Cooper fans were talking bad about Abilene High. All week I kept hearing that the Eagle coaching staff, teachers, student body, football players, and fans were tasteless, classless people who live in the past. Also during that week, I kept hearing about how the Eagle winning streak for the Cross-town Showdown was nothing compared to the 15 year streak that Cooper had a long time ago. It seems to me based on that, and some of the comments left on the Cougar blog, they are the ones living in the past. And if we are the ones that are classless, then why is it that a couple of the Cooper players started talking trash at the end of the game? I am not trying to get anybody upset; all I am doing is defending my team.
I find it absolutely amazing some of the comments made by the Abilene High fans towards the end of the game. When we got a delay of game penalty, I heard somebody from our side of the stadium shout, “Come on Bill Parcells!” I was really upset at that and my face showed it. I don’t know who said that, and I am glad I don’t. Coach Warren is a FAR better coach than Parcells. I expect a better attitude from our fans when it comes to the coaches. They put in at least 15 hours a day to get our boys prepared for their next game. I am never happy when some of our fans bad mouth our coaches over something. I guarantee you that those that bad mouth them couldn’t take a trip in a coach’s shoes.
I also want to congratulate a former Abilene High coach. Don Delozier, who has been the Head Coach of the Hereford Whitefaces since 2003, and his team won 40-14 against Randall on Friday. That win clinched an outright District Championship. Congratulations Coach D and I hope you make a good run in the playoffs. You deserve it.

first, no cooper players talked trash. an abilene high player pushed a cooper player in the back on the int return at the end.
second, are you serious Warren is better than Parcells?????? if he was better than wouldnt a-high be in the play-offs 24/7? sorry but if coach Parcells was at a high school they would kick a$$ and go very deep year in and year out.

Yes I do believe Warren is a better coach than Parcells. Look at what he has done for Abilene High. You can't sit there and tell me that Warren is a bad coach. I honestly don't think that Parcells could do the same thing that Warren has done for the Eagles.

I dont find it so amazing that the eagles only threw the ball 9 times. The whole district knows the cougars run defense is extremely weak. thats not living in the past. that is now. warren a better coach than parcells. you call that a comparison. success in high school football doesnt guarantee success at any other level, c'mon. talkin trash is always there from both sides. I dont like it that it exists on either side, but its always there. the minority that are doing it is not a reflection of the majority of the fans. enjoy the eagles success, everyone has their time in the spotlight. right now , its abilene high. they clearly have had the better team the past 3 years. I personally dont have a problem with that.
cougars will have their turn again in the future. who knows when, but it will happen. They will be good again. I hope you cocede the same. eagles are not the same team they have been the previous 2 years. they dont seem as dominant. they will make the playoffs , but im guessing not as deep as last year. one last thing. this for all fans. too much pride is bad thing. think about it.

I find it amazing that so many people think that Parcells is a better coach right now than what Warren is.
Look back at the last three seasons and tell me how many playoff games that Parcells has won. ZERO!
Warren has won SIX playoff games in that same span.

WARREN VS. PARCELLS. You're right cougar90 - there really isnt a comparison. I don't believe that you can truly compare the skills, blood, sweat, tears and passion that a high school football coach puts in day in and day out to get those boys to play their tails off each and every Friday night FOR FREE to an NFL coach that gets paid millions to coach a bunch of extremely high paid (and many over-paid) players. High school coaches are dealt their team solely determined by which side of the street they live on. NFL coaches get to bring in whomever they choose (as long as the team salary stays under the cap) and can send players packing if they aren't doing the job they were paid to do. High school coaches can't offer millions to the players and they sure don't make millions themselves. No, there is no comparison - high school coaches definitely have the harder job.
As far as the playoff debate, unless you are watching a different team that Parcells is head coach of, they haven't "gone deep year in and year out". Pete, you need to check your team's stats. The Cowboys lost in the first round of playoffs the first year Parcells took over and went on a downhill slide after that. Granted, they have been doing better here lately, but enough about them. I think you two are missing the point. Warren came in when A-High was playing pitifully and within three years had them in the playoffs.
As far as the running game, it is every team's job to watch tapes of the opposing team prior to the game to learn their weaknesses and strengths and practice accordingly. Regardless if in previous games Cooper's key weakness was their run defense, it is very impressive that A-High was able to do so much on the ground. In their previous games this season A-High threw no less than 20 attempts with most games doubling that. So yes, it is impressive that they reduced their throwing game so substantially and still were able to come out with a W.
Pride is a wonderful thing - it's what gets those boys to play every Friday night and what gets the fans in the stands. A-High and Cooper will always fight for the title and the bell will switch hands many, many times. That is what this cross-town rivalry is all about - the love of the game...
