Cats leading early

ACU moved the ball well, going from its 20 to the Texas State 31, but Billy Malone was sacked for a loss of eight on third down, forcing a punt.

Three plays later, a pick by Mike Kern gave ACU another shot, and Malone hit Johnny Knox on the first play from 23 out, giving the Wildcats a 7-0 lead with 8:55 remaining in the first quarter.

Texas State seemed to be a bit flustered by the pick and score, and muffed the catch on the ensuing kickoff. The Bobcats got the ball back, though, and have driven to the ACU 40, so we'll see if the D can hold again.
