Girl Crush Alert: Here's Another Reason to See "The Dark Knight"

Erin is on her way to Austin to the South by Southwest film and music festivals, so in her absence, I'll pass on the news about her favorite girl crush: MAGGIE GYLLENHAAL!! (Our love for her must be yelled.) Gyllenhaal is in final negotiations to star in "The Dark Knight," the sequel to Christopher Nolan's excellent "Batman Begins," replacing Katie Holmes as D.A. Rachel Dawes. Holmes apparently had scheduling conflicts/Tom wouldn't let her out of her cage.

Other new additions to the cast are Heath Ledger as The Joker and Aaron Eckhart as D.A. Harvey Dent/Two Face. This brings me great joy. "Batman Begins" ranks as one of my favorite superhero films, up there with the "Spider-Man" series, and it took years for me to purge the unholy experience that was "Batman and Robin" from my mind. Great cast, great direction, great vision, great new take on a once-thought-dead series. I can't wait.
