Division II Top 5

Today we finish our look at the Top 5 Teams in Division II of Six-Man football.
# 5 Lohn Eagles
The Lohn Eagles finished up 7-3 last season and return 3 Offensive and 3Defensive starters from the 2005 edition. They will be challenged by the # 10 team in this poll for the district championship but I look for them to go far in the playoffs.
# 4 Follett Panthers
The Follett Panthers scratched their way to a 6-4 record last season. They will return six starters from last season, 3 on Offense and 3 on Defense. They will be solid and ready for the playoffs.
# 3 Woodson Cowboys
Last season the Cowboys managed to go 8-2 and they have 4 Offensive starters and 3 Defensive players back. Couple that with the fact this district looks weak on paper, you can look for the Cowboys to ride hard on their district competitors. All of the other teams in this district only had 5 wins amongst them last season. Yee Ha! This appears to be a run away, land slide, get out of their way COWBOY Stomp.
# 2 Grandfalls-Royalty Cowboys
These Cowboys played their way to a 12-3 season last year and they have 4 Offensive and 4 Defensive players returning for this season. Look for these guys to go down the playoff road one more time.
# 1 Whitharral Panthers
Can a coaching change stop these guys? Their head coach from last season made a decision to apply his trade elsewhere this season. Lots of coaches moved around during the off season. The Panthers were strong last season and will be strong again this season.
Their new coach has 3 Offensive starters and 4 Defensive starters returning from last season and they are capable of moving the ball on the ground or through the air. The Defense will be stout. Again, the question is how will the tam and coach adapt to each other? If things go well, there will be a State Championship trophy with Witharral’s name on it at the end of the season!
Good Football To All of You!
Next blog we will discuss the pros and cons of going from 11 man football to the Six-Man game. Of course we will be discussing the towns of Eden, Knox City, and Rankin.
