Stamford Bulldogs Earn Playoff Spot!!!

Well the Bulldogs had to win their final 3 games to clinch a playoff spot and they did. First up they beat Hamlin 24-21 by a field goal in the last seconds of the game. Next, came the Roby Lions which the Dogs destroyed 41-7 I want to congratulate Jerrick Acosta he had a great game with 224 yards rushing and 4 touchdowns. Finally the last regular season game was against the Rotan Yellowhammers, and the Dogs had to beat them to clinch the # 2 seed which they did. The final score was 48-7 and again I congratulate the Bulldogs offensive line as in the past two weeks they've allowed our rushers to rush for over 700 yards. Now that the regular season is over it's time for postseason and the Bulldogs first game is against the Winters Blizzards. Winters regular season record is 4-6 and the Bulldogs finished their season record at 7-3. I want to congratulate all of us who have prepared for this everyday since two a days this is what we've been working for. So congrats Bulldogs on an amazing year and let's keep it going. Come on out and Support the Stamford Bulldogs as it's their first playoff appearance since 2001. The Stamford Bulldogs take on the Winter's Blizzards Thursday at the Mustang Bowl in Sweetwater. I hope to see everyone there....

Stamford Bulldog's Losses

Sorry for not updating the past few games I just totally forgot. Well while I hadn't been updating this blog the Bulldogs have lost three straight games. There first loss was to Windthorst, and the only reason they lost this game was because mistakes in the first quarter. The Bulldogs let the Trojans score 26 in the first quarter and then held them for 3 quarters after. The next loss was to the Haskell Indians, and the deciding factor for this game was the opening kickoff to the Indians and the Bulldogs let them run it all the way bakc for a touchdown which was a big factor in this game since the final score was 33 to 28. The Bulldogs next opponents were the Roscoe Plowboys and I've got to give our Dawgs credit on this game, they played an amazing first quarter. Roscoe just executed better and it showed on the score board with a final score of 41 to 7. The Stamford Bulldogs are taking on the Hamlin Pied Pipers this Friday October 24 in Hamlin so come on out and support our Dawgs as they need to win out the rest of the season to have a shot at the playoffs. The Bulldogs record is 4-3 and 0-2 in district.

Stamford goes 4-0 with win in OT over Hawley

the Bulldogs played a great game last Friday to take the win 31-28 with a winning field goal kick from quarterback Hayden Nauert. The Bulldogs got off to a great start but eventually lost control of the game and were down by two scores, but the bulldogs weren't going to say die they came back with a hard fought win in Overtime and the final outcome was Stamford 31 Hawley 28. The Bulldogs have a tough test this Friday when they travel to Windthorst and take on the Trojans, but I think they'll get it done because they've been practicing like champions which will pay off on Friday nights so come on out and support your Stamford Bulldogs as they take on the Windthorst Trojans. Kickoff is at 7:30 at Windthorst stadium

Stamford Defeats Baird 50-24

The Stamford Bulldogs are now 3-0 and turning some heads. The Bulldogs went to Baird with determination to go 3-0 and it's this is the first time Stamford has gone 3-0 in a very long time. The Bears scored first on their first series and it was a shootout through the first half. The second half belonged to the bulldogs as they tried to make the running game work, and with some backups getting some playing time they did great. Now Stamford is ranked # 23 in 1A at texasfootball.com and they're looking to improve that ranking by winning game after game. This Friday it's the Bulldogs homecoming and the Hawley Bearcats are coming to the dawg house to try to ruin our confidence and determination, but with the preparation we've done this week I know we'll be ready to win another game and stay undefeated with a record of 4-0! So come on out to Bill Anderson Stadium in Stamford and watch these two rival teams as Stamford tries to go 4-0 and Hawley tries to beat us for our first loss. It's going to be a great game so come on out kickoff is at 7:30.

Bulldogs go 2-0.... Stamford 21 Jim Ned 14

The Stamford Bulldogs played a great game against the Jim Ned Indians. At half time the score was 7-0 then in the third quarter Stamford scored again making it 14-0, but the indians weren't going to give up without a fight. Late in the 4th quarter it was all tied up 14-14 and with about 2:30 left backup quarterback Hayden Nauert threw a touchdown pass to Omar Garcia. Then the score was 21-14 and that would be the final outcome of the game the Indians had alot of heart but the bulldog defense wouldn't let them score again to tie it up. In the second quarter starting quarterback Skyler Stone left the game with a knee injury, and backup QB Hayden Nauert came and did a great job leading the bulldogs to a win, Nauert was 15 of 23 for 173 yards. I want to say good job to the bulldogs defense which was hitting hard all night. Well we've seen how the Bulldogs can do at home, but lets see how well they do away. Next week the Bulldogs will take on the Baird Bears at Baird. So come out and support the Bulldogs as they play their heart out to go 3-0!!!

Stamford 32, Munday 29

Well wasn't it a great night for the Stamford Bulldogs Friday night.... It sure was because the defending state champs the Munday Moguls came into the Dawg house and left with a few bruises. The running and passing of Senior quarterback Skyler Stone was amazing, and the effort by the Bulldog defense was also amazing not giving up a point until halftime. Some people will probably say it's luck just because Munday got called for a pass interference after the bulldogs failed to get a first down which would have made Munday the winner, but we say it wasn't luck because we know we had them down and because of a few mistakes we let them score one time to get ahead of us which really put us in a bind since there was just around 2:20 left in the game. For all the people that think it was just luck go ahead and Come on out to Bill Anderson Stadium again this coming Friday as the Stamford Bulldogs take on the Jim Ned Indians, this should also be another great game.

Also I want to point out a couple of players that stood out to me.... Skyler Stone with his amazing rushing ability, Dante Pryor with his great strength on Defense, Michael Alvarado with his agility and strength on defense, Omar Garcia with a great last minute catch, and the whole bulldog defense and offensive line.

Stamford Bulldogs 2008.... A Whole New Year!

Well this coming Friday is the first game for most teams in the big country. The defending state champs the Munday Moguls will be coming to Stamford to play at Bill Anderson Stadium for 4 full quarters. The Stamford Bulldogs last season suffered a loss to the moguls on their run to the playoffs. The Bulldogs this season are returning more than 20 seniors which we hope will give us a big advantage. On the offense we have senior quarterback Skyler Stone which is a big threat with his arm and his feet, and he has 5 offensive lineman that avg. 200 or more pounds. Dante Norman, Jacob Akins, Taylor Oakley, and Ryan Richerson are the ones that i mainly want to point out. On the defensive side of the ball we have a huge defensive line pointing out noseguart Dante Pryor which has caused a bunch of destruction to opposing teams the past three years. Overall the Bulldogs offense and defense are really good, and moving down from 2A we should have a great chance of being one of the top teams in the district which we already are according to Texas High School Football magazine. The only team in front of us was Roscoe and were not to worried about them. Were focused on the Moguls right now and we'll focus on the upcoming teams when their week comes to face the Bulldogs, but when Roscoe comes to Stamford the plowboys will have another thing coming......

Oh yeah! and if you want to see a good matchup between the defending state champs and a very much improved Stamford team then come on out to Bill Anderson Stadium in Stamford Texas. Kickoff starts at 7:30 Friday Aug. 29

Stamford Bulldogs fall to Coahoma Bulldogs

The Stamford Bulldogs traveled to Coahoma this past week to face the Coahoma Bulldogs. Stamford came into this game with alot of expectations, but maybe with to much expectations. The Stamford Bulldogs were losing 21-7 at halftime. But the second half they definitley won, but it just wasn't enough Stamford made an amazing comeback in the final minutes it was 27-27. Then Stamford fumbled the ball and that led to a Coahoma touchdown which made the final score Coahoma 34 and Stamford 27. That leaves Stamford 3-2 in district and Coahoma 2-3 in district. Here are the current standings in district. Haskell 5-0, Hawley 4-1, Stamford 3-2, Anson 2-3, Stanton 2-3, Merkel 2-3, Coahoma 2-3, C-City 0-5. Which means Stamford right now is in third place in district. The Stamford Bulldogs take on the Merkel Badgers this week and we hope to add another win to our record so come out and support the Stamford Bulldogs as they take on the Badgers in Stamford.

The Stamford Bulldogs took on the the Stanton Buffaloes and were victorious. The final score was 17-8. The Stanton Buffaloes had a lead over the bulldogs at intermission 8-7.
