Event: Spelling and Vocabulary

How long you’ve been competing: 3 Years

What’s the most challenging/nerve-wracking thing about your event: The most nerve-wracking thing is pretty much keeping handwriting neat. The most challenging thing is the list of outside words.

First thing you’ll do when you win: I haven't decided upon what I'll do if I win.

Past honors in the event: I have gone to state for the past two yrs in this event, this being the third. I have received 2nd, 1st, 1st in District - 3rd, 3rd, 1st in Regionals (Consecutive Years of Competition).

Extracurricular activities/other UIL events: I have competed in Number Sense, Current Events, and Math as well, but have been most successful in Spelling and Vocabulary. Extracurricular activities include NHS, Chess Club/Key Club in previous high school.

College plans: I plan to major in Biomedical Engineering at Texas A&M University and hope to get into Medical School.

Birthplace: Royal Oak, Michigan

One thing your parents, a sibling or even a best friend might not know about you: Being a Hindu by birth, I have a deep interest in Eastern Philosophy, particularly in the depths of Indian Religion, primarily Hinduism, and the Vedanta Philosophy. Also, I write poetry and play table tennis frequently.
