Albany: Emily Raymond

Emily Raymond.jpgAge: 16

Grade: 11th

Event: UIL Spelling and Vocabulary

How long you've been competing in UIL: 9 years (since 3rd grade)

What's the most challenging/nerve-wracking thing about your event: Waiting for the results, definitely.

First thing you'll do when you win: Go straight to the Cheesecake Factory and eat!!!

Past honors in the event: I have placed first in District every year since 3rd grade. As a freshman I placed 5th at State, and as a sophomore I tied for 1st.

Extracurricular activities/other UIL events: I am part of the National Honor Society, volunteer at the local Resource Center after school, attend youth group and sing in the church choir. I enjoy reading, writing and working crossword puzzles in my spare time.

College plans: I hope to attend either Hardin-Simmons University or Texas Tech, an I am planning to enter the medical field.

Birthplace: Tyler, Texas USA

One thing your parents, a sibling or even a best friend might no know about you: When I am too old to work anymore, I want to open a bookstore so I can do nothing but pore over books all day and get paid for it.
