Jayton: Bonnie-Claire Duren
Age: 15
Grade: 9
Event: Feature Writing and Ready Writing
How long you've been competing in UIL: I've competed in junior high but this is my first year in high school UIL events.
What's the most challenging/nerve-wracking thing about your event: The events are objective so it's all up to the judges ... there's nothing to study!
First thing you'll do when you win: Party like it's 1999!!
Past honors in the event: 6th place Feature Writing at Haskell Practice Meet, 1st Place Feature & Ready Writing at District Meet, 1st Place Feature Writing at Regional Meet, 3rd Place Ready Writing at Regional Meet
Extracurricular activities/other UIL events: Cross X Debate, Current Events, Social Studies, Number Sense, Persuasive Speaking, band, cross country, basketball, track, 4-H, FFA, local church youth group
College plans: Not sure yet, but I plan on attending law school after receiving my undergraduate degree.
Birthplace: Georgetown, TX
One thing your parents, a sibling or even a best friend might not know about you: My favorite thing to do when I little was writing stories for fun!
