Albany: Blake Perez
Grade: 10th
How long you've been competing in UIL: I've been competing in UIL since the 4th grade.
What's the most challenging/nerve-wracking
thing about your event: The most
nerve-wracking thing about my event is waiting for the results! It drives me
insane having to wait so long even though the graders grade as fast as they
can. The most challenging thing is studying down to the punctuation mark,
literally!
First thing you'll do when you win: The first thing I did when I won at Regionals was celebrate
with my team members and then call my parents. If we do that good at State, I
will do the same thing.
Past honors in the event: Past honors in my participating in Spelling are placing
first as a team at Regionals last year in Spelling, placing third individually
this year at District, as well as placing third as a team, and placing first as
a team this year at Regionals.
Extracurricular activities/other UIL events: I am in no other UIL events - one is hard enough for me! My
extracurricular activities include Boy Scouts, in which I'm currently an Eagle
Scout.
College plans: I
currently have no major college plans except to go to Cisco Junior College to
get my basics.
