Bangs: Candis Bryson
Grade: Senior
Event: Headline
Writing
How long you've been competing in UIL: One
year in UIL Academics, but I have been in Band since junior high and competed
in several UIL competitions for that.
What's the most challenging/nerve-wracking
thing about your event: The most challenging thing about Headline writing is
only having about seven minutes per headline, which never seems to be enough!
First thing you'll do when you win: If I win,
the first thing I will do is ask the announcer, "Are you sure you got that name
right?"
Past honors in the event: This is the first
year I have ever done Headlines. I received third place at the district meet
and second at the regional meet.
Extracurricular activities/other UIL events: I
am in marching and concert band, jazz band, Spanish club, National Honors
Society, and Yearbook staff, along with several activities outside of school.
College plans: I will be attending Angelo
State University to become a teacher. There are several things I would like to
teach, but right now, I plan on being a high school math teacher.
