Eastland: Cody Edwards
Grade: 11
How long you've been competing in UIL: Since
the third grade
What's the most challenging/nerve-wracking
thing about your event: In Literary Criticism it's the overwhelming amount of
facts and history you have to know. In Ready Writing the most difficult part is
taking the theme of the prompt and turning it into something worthwhile or
readable.
First thing you'll do when you win: I'll
probably start studying for next year. Or go shopping for books in Austin.
Past honors in the event: Literary Criticism:
First Place at District (Freshman and Junior Year), Second Place at Region
(Junior Year), Second Place Wildcard Team at Region (Sophomore and Junior
Year), Third Place Team at State (Sophomore Year). Ready Writing: First Place
at District (Sophomore and Junior Year), First Place at Region (Junior Year).
Extracurricular activities/other UIL events:
One-Act Play, Headline Writing, Beta Club
College plans: Undecided, but hopefully a
small liberal arts college where I can focus on English and Theatre
Birthplace: Eastland, TX
