Haskell: Codi Foster
Grade: 10
Event: Calculator
Applications
How long you've been
competing in UIL: UIL since 2nd grade, Calculator since 6th grade
What's the most challenging/nerve-wracking
thing about your event: The most challenging thing about calculator is the 30
minute time limit. It is hard making
enough time to do all the problems I know how to do.
First thing you'll do when you win: The 1st
thing I would do if I won would be give Mrs. Bevel, my coach, a giant hug for
all the work she has put into working with me.
Past honors in the event: 2008 1st Place Team Haskell & District, Individual
2nd District, Regional Qualifier. 2009
1st Place Team Haskell, 2nd Place Team Wylie, 1st Place Team District,
Individual 3rd Wylie, 1st District, 3rd Regional
Extracurricular activities/other UIL events: I
am really involved in church and FCS (Fellowship of Christian Students)
activities. I play the tenor sax in our
band. I play 3rd base & pitcher on
our Varsity softball team, and I am the sophomore class president. I am also a member of our Number Sense &
Mathematics teams in UIL.
College plans: I have no idea where I am going
to go, but I know that I want to teach high school science & math in a
small town. I guess if I could choose
any college it would be Texas A&M.
Birthplace: I was born in Abilene, but I have
lived in Haskell my entire life.
One thing your parents, a sibling or even a
best friend might not know about you: I guess 1 thing people may not know about
me is how much I enjoy being a "nerd" in UIL then heading out to the softball
field for a game. It is a hard switch,
but I LOVE the challenge!
