Wylie: Meghan Monson
Grade: 12
Event: Current
Events
How long you've been competing in UIL: Only
this year. I competed in middle school and junior high, but I skipped a few
years between then and now.
What's the most challenging/nerve-wracking
thing about your event: The most challenging thing about current events is that
you can study so much material in preparation for this test and still have no
questions on the test asked about what you studied. It happens a lot.
First thing you'll do when you win: When my
team and I win state in current events, I will secretly snicker a little
towards our rivals and then jump up and down in celebration with my teammates
and current events coach, Mrs. Furr.
Past honors in the event: None! Haha I have
only competed in current events this year.
Extracurricular activities/other UIL events: I
am a member of National Honor Society and I also volunteer frequently in my
community. I am in no other UIL events.
College plans: In the fall, I am moving to
Austin and will attend the University of Texas with an undeclared major. Hook
'em Horns!
Birthplace: I was born in Lufkin, Texas
One thing your parents, a sibling or even a
best friend might not know about you: I have the fear emetophobia.
