Here we go

Here we go folks, today I start keeping a daily (or close to it) Web log for The Tribune, covering the New Mexico Legislature for the next 60 days.

I hope to make this blog a little bit of everything. There will be news that didn't make deadline, commentary that didn't fit into a story, and links and resources for readers to better understand how and why things work.

There will be no, repeat no, unsubstantiated gossip here. I leave that to the professionals.

The next 60 days, however, does look to be a heady brew of political and personal clashes over the issues near and dear to New Mexicans. I hope you'll look here for a taste of it all.

Might as well have some news: After writing in my column that the Senate Democrats had yet to nail down a public-relations guru to replace Stuart Dyson, I found today they have hired a familiar face: Tom Garrity, former assistant superintendant for Albuquerque Public Schools. Garrity was at the Roundhouse today making, well, the rounds of the place, meeting his new bosses.

Check here as often as you can, bookmark the blog, and I'll try to make it worth your while. Thanks again.

This is great. The best political reporting I've seen in a long time comes from Shea--great writer, great insight, congrats to the Tribune for figuring out a way to keep you onboard. I look forward to reading your columns and this blog. Keep up the good work.
