Democrats Real and Temporary

Now that's what I call a big tent: There's been plenty of stage whispering going on in the Roundhouse about the political alliances of the Senate Democratic p.r. guy, Tom Garrity. Turns out Garrity -- gasp -- is a Republican.

Garrity admitted as much Friday evening, with a caveat that he comes from "a long line of Democrats." He has, however, spent a fair amount of time in Texas, where he said his Republican stripes emerged.
"Something happens to you in Texas," Garrity said.

I'll leave it to others to call this a conflict of interest or not, but Garrity's job does necessarily require a bit of partisan p.r. work, including watchdogging various Republican efforts. Can he hold out?

Back to the real Dems:
Sen. Linda Lopez, an Albuquerque Democrat, said she intends to run again for her position as chairwoman of the Bernalillo County Democratic Party, a post she's had for two years.

This means she'll take on Marvin Moss, who has been with the party organization a good while and who earlier this year declared his own candidacy for the chairman's position.
