Maybe it's the trepidation about tonight's House vs. Senate basketball game, but lawmakers are starting to turn up lame around here.
First there was Rep. Eric Youngberg, seen sporting around the Capitol in a pair of running shoes with his suit. Youngberg, an Albuquerque Republican, is a fairly dapper gent, so this didn't make sense.
"Bone spurs," he explained. Ordinary dress shoes hurt like the dickens to wear all day.
But that's nothing compared to the sight of Sen. James Taylor in a wheelchair. The Albuquerque Democrat said he threw out his back the other day and sitting is about the only way he feels comfortable. Late last night he was getting wheeled down to his car by his ever-helpful assistant Louise.
If Taylor doesn't get back on his feet it would mean he'd miss his first-ever House-Senate game as a senator. He's been a House stalwart for years.
Anybody else looking for a pass tonight?
