The House has just voted 38-31 to repeal New Mexico's death penalty, and replace it with life without parole.
The debate ran on only a couple of hours, without the drama of a call of the House or any other floor action.
Rep. Gail Beam, sponsor of the measure, just made history. Today was the first time the House has ever heard a measure to repeal. Now, it's on to the Senate.
