NCAA gives UNM a big thumbs up
The NCAA announced UNM is one of 19 Division I universities to earn certification without conditions. After the an extensive audit spanning 18 months, the NCAA determined UNM had a strong record with governance and commitment to rules compliance, academic integrity, equity and student-athlete well-being.
Acting UNM president David Harris stated in a news release issued by UNM, "This is an outstanding accomplishment. To be granted certification with no conditions means the quality and integrity of the UNM athletics program is recognized and applauded by peers on a national level."
UNM Athletics Director Paul Krebs, who just took over the Lobos program in June, added, "The NCAA certification process is exhaustive and thorough and to receive certification without conditions says a lot about the way this department has been run in the past. It's a testament to the coaches and staff at the University of New Mexico."
