Wyoming still swinging

March 28, 2007

The Wyoming women's basketball team has made an impressive postseason run after getting snubbed by the NCAA Tournament. The Cowgirls just survived a thriller, knocking off defending Women's NIT champs Kansas State 89-79 in triple overtime. Here's a recap of the big game. Wyoming will face Wisconsin in Laramie, Wyo., Saturday for WNIT championship. This is definitely huge for the Cowgirls' program, which really hasn't seen this kind of success before. It's also really cool that the team has been drawing crowds on par with the Lobos throughout its WNIT run.

This, of course, makes Wyoming a mighty dangerous team next season. The Cowgirls don't have any seniors and should develop more depth beyond their seven player rotation that made them pretty tough to beat this year. And they'll have all that postseason experience and confidence to boot.
