In Salt Lake City...

Here are the top 10 things I learned today in Salt Lake City, site of the Mountain West Conference Media Day.

1. It's nice to have your own day.

2. San Diego State coach Steve Fisher likes watching the World Series of Poker.

3. Coaches are pretty understanding about the MWC tournament moving back to Vegas in 2007.

4. Reporters are thrilled the tournament is going back to Vegas.

5. Utah coach Ray Giacoletti can play "Hotel California" on the acoustic guitar.

6. Ritchie McKay likes making jokes about the media.

7. Check that. I already knew that about McKay.

8. David Chiotti forgot a belt, so he used a phone cord to keep his pants up.

9. The UNM women are picked to finish second and Dionne Marsh made the all-conference team.

10. The UNM men are picked to finish fifth, and no one made the all-conference team.

Read my story here.

Did you also learn that you will be calling Kal Bay because he is your daddy? (Insert Ritchie McKay media joke here)

Per SLC Story:Women's BB: Quote[Both teams won the conference tournament title last season]
'Scuse me? I laughed when reading the Ute's website advertising they'd won the championship, but a local reporter should know better. They SHARED the season's best conference record. The Lobos WON the tournament... again... for the third straight year. A local reporter should know that. Two demerits, an apology is in order.

Read it again, KV. I'm writing that both the Lobo men and Lobo women won their conference tournaments.

I'll reclaim those merits and await my apology.

I was wondering if you are the same man that wrote the story about the 3 Mouton boys. If so I was wondering if there was an e-mail adress for them. My maiden name is Demesma and my great-grandmother's name was Mouton. I was really trying to se if thier was any relation. I would really appreciate a response. Thanks so much I advance.
