Meet Maggie Ybarra
Nickname(s): Maggie or Ishmael (long story). Don't use my full name unless you have something frightfully serious to discuss or you're trying to collect money from me.
Age: Mentally, 16
College: UNM
Family: One black-belt feminist mother, a two-tours-of-Vietnam father, one rich forest-ranger sister, a pro-league traveling-bowling-team brother, and two very fat cats.
Places I've lived: Houston, Dallas, Tucson, Miramar, Budapest, Nassau, and this place.
My car is: A shamefully ghetto-fabulous Jeep Cherokee. But she survived Hurricane Katrina and can run over things, and that's probably more than your car can claim.
I wish my car was: A shamefully ghetto-fabulous Jeep Cherokee.
What Mom always told me: Don't mow crop circles in my lawn; it's embarrassing.
In my spare time I like to: aggravate my mother.
Favorite superhero: Master Shake of the Aqua Teen Hunger Force, because if I said everything that was in my head I wouldn't sound much different from him.
If I had a million dollars: I'd buy a rice farm in Africa.
A book and a movie I love: "The Power of One," both as a book and a movie.
The thing out-of-towners have to do while here: Drive out to White Sands and surf down the dunes using a broken-down cardboard box as your boogie board.
Comfort food: Cupcakes. Any cupcake. Preferably the fancy ones you can buy from The Grove.
Red or green: For Pete's sake, green.
