Who will replace U.S. Attorney David Iglesias?

January 05, 2007

By Kate Nash

Put your money on one of these four attorneys, recommended today by U.S. Sen. Pete Domenici.

Jim Bibb

Glenn Elington

Charles Peifer

Pat Rogers

"It is my pleasure to recommend four individuals that I believe would serve New Mexico and the nation with distinction as United States Attorney for our state," Domenici said in a statement. "I am familiar with each of them, and I believe that they have the necessary legal backgrounds and right temperament for the job. I look forward to President Bush’s choice."

Bush, of course, could come up with someone totally different. But Domenici's suggestion will weigh heavily.

There's no timeline yet on getting someone in to replace David Iglesias, who is leaving at some point this year.
