New PIO hired for GOP

February 06, 2007

Charlotte Balcomb Lane, formerly of the Albuquerque Journal, has been picked to be the mouthpiece for the state Republican party.

Folks at the GOP are excited about her arrival.

"Lane brings a lot of journalistic experience and credibility to the position," Chris Atencio, the party's political director, said in a statement.
"She is a New Mexico native with a background in Republican politics and a nose for news," he added.

Before she worked at the Journal, Lane worked at the Orlando Sentinel for nine years, so she knows the newspaper biz. She more recently worked at the First National Bank of Santa Fe (in Albuquerque) as a business development associate.

Welcome to this crazy world, Charlotte. Now's a great time to join all things political. . .
