Whole lot a movie makin' going on

July 30, 2007

By Kate Nash

The number of movies shot in New Mexico since Richardson took office tops 70.

The latest, Five Dollars a Day, stars Christopher Walken and Alessandro Nivola.

The film is about an artist and his Republican son, according to the Governor's Office:

Five Dollars a Day is a father/son road movie where “Nat” (Walken), a free spirited con-artist and his more conservative son, “Flynn” (Nivola) embark on a road trip odyssey of humorous and poignant incidents that eventually lead to an unexpected finale.

Hmm. . . I'm so glad it's an unexpected finale. Because those expected ones just aren't any fun.

The Governor's Office says the movies have added $1.2 billion to the state's economy. That's much higher of course, than what the entertainment industry has contributed to the governor's presidential campaign. . .
