It's only two days 'til Halloween, so you need to road-test those costumes. Here's a chance to to it, and see a new play to boot. Changing Scene Theatre Northwest, the bestest little theater in Kitsap, is staging "At the Witch's House," a new children's comedy by Darren R. Schroader and Tim Brown, and directed by Changing Scene's artistic director, Pavlina Morris. There's a costume contest for the special Halloween night performance, Tuesday at 7 p.m., but I'm sure nobody'd mind if the kiddles wore their costumes to today's 2 p.m. matinee, either. Information: (360) 792-8601.
A couple straight nights coming home late on the ferry is enough. Let's stay over on this side tonight. It's Taste of Asia night at the Clearwater Casino(15347 Suquamish Way NE, just west of the Agate Pass Bridge), beginning at 8 p.m. Information: (360) 598-8700. Or there's the best little fall-back in the county, Thursday night at McCloud's (2901 Perry Ave., also in Bremertron) with the mighty Rocky Point All-Stars.
For Saturday, Oct. 14:
Sam Shepard's Pulitzer Prize-winning drama "Buried Child" is literally (well, almost) about a family that puts the baby out with the bathwater, and leaves it out. It'll make you laugh and squirm, and mostly it'll make you glad you went to see the closing-night performance of the fine staging at Changing Scene Theatre Northwest, the bestest little theater in Kitsap. Showtime is 8 p.m., and the playhouse is located at 5889 St. Highway 303 in East Bremerton; just duck back behind the Orowheat Bakery Outlet and you're there. To make sure they're saving a seat for you (it is, as I constantly remind you) a little theater) call (360) 792-8601.

Inexplicably, though, they're the opening band for some over-the-hump songwriter named Bob Dylan, who hasn't made a good album since, well, actually, his most recent album ... and all his other albums. Can you tell yet that I'm being facetious? Anyway, suck it up for one more night of big-time mature rock-n-roll and get thee back to The Key. With any luck, Bob'll do "Tangled Up in Blue."
