Thunderstorms soon?
A strong baroclinic zone will set up across Kansas Wednesday night through Friday. Only a weak storm is needed to cause thunderstorm formation. So, will we have any rain? Yesterday it looked certain. Today it is backing away. Very frustrating again! What is a baroclinic zone? A baroclinic zone is a frontal zone, or an area of strong temperature contrast. Thursday could see highs in the 40s in Kansas and 90s in Oklahoms. The baroclinic zone is the tight contrast in temperatures. This is often the region where a larger scale storm develops.

Rain would for sure be nice...but so would the end of A Chance for an Overnight Frost.
One of the forecasts I'm seeing is indicating lows in the mid 30's again on Saturday night..tell us it isn't so.
Bob
HI BOB:
Thanks for posting! We do have some colder air heading our way as we go into the weekend. Overnight lows on Saturday morning could be in the mid to upper 30s, with similar lows on Sunday. Some of the low-lying, sheltered areas *could* drop to near freezing... so we're not out of the woods yet!
Hang in there...

Wow. That sounds exciting...well the drastic temperature difference does...the Kansas with highs in the 40s doesn't. I am having a hard time putting my flip-flops back in the closet! :-)
So, the rain forecast says chances look to be about 50%. Is that still the case? and will it be straight rain or could we look forward to some rumbles in the clouds?
HI, CRYSTAL:
I know what you mean about the 40s! I am *so* ready for warmer weather!!
We are still expecting some rain as we enter the second half of the week. There is a chance of showers tonight into Thursday morning... and another round of rain on Friday. It looks like mainly showers, but a chance of a few thunderstorms. At this point, it looks like the severe threat will be limited to southern Missouri!
Thanks for posting!
Jamie :)

When will it be safe to finally plant tomatoes?
Teresa,
This cold weather pattern will fade in about 7 to 10 days. There will still be some cold nights until it does.

Since the temps. are going to be in the middle to lower 30s could we see some flakes in the sky?
Matt,
It won't be cold enough for snow. The 30s will occur after the rain ends.

I thought our weather last year our weather was outstanding. We had a cool summer, but the most important thing was all the rain that we received. I've been noticing that this year has not been the same as last year (in regards to rain received). What is this summer looking like so far? Will I have to mow often or do I need to visit the bank to get a loan for my future water bills?
Mark M,
I believe that we are in a 75 day cycle and this weather pattern continues right into summer. So, what will this same weather pattern mean for the summer? It is hard to say, but it looks like it will have cool stretches, but also have the potential for a heat wave or two. They would likely be short lived, but the weather pattern becomes so weak by the summer it is just too early to really pin down what will happen. Last summer it never went above 95 degrees. I am certain we will come close to or exceed 100 degrees this summer.
Rainfall wise it looks like we will have at least average rainfall.
