Dry

Thursday evening. I am getting ready for the 6 PM broadcast. My goal is to explain why it is dry and getting drier. We just looked at the GFS through 384 hours. There is one good chance of rain in the next 16 days, as of today's data. I am including the 60 hour total precipitation for the end of next week. But, this is the only good chance.

The weather pattern shows no signs of turning around. So, enjoy the nice, dry weather. I am asking a question tonight to see how people are feeling about this nice weather. "Are you enjoying this nice, dry weather, or do you want it to rain?"

Windy and Stormy are here with me today. Windy will officially be 15 1/2 years old on May 10th (her birthday is November 10th). She continues to amaze me, but it is getting tougher as she has Arthritis.

I want the rain. Sunny weather is nice, but the grass and plants are starting to look all brown like they are in the middle of an August heat wave. Can't we have some nice green fora little while at least :-)

Mike,

What's up? Not much rain in the forecast. It could change, but I just don't see it yet.

There is just something so wonderful about smelling rain in the air, hearing the thunder, feeling the windows rattling in the 60mph wind! :) I miss the storms.

ANNE:
I am enjoying the dry weather for outdoor activities (I like to jog/play tennis)... but I, too, am missing the storms we typically see this time of year!

Well, almost any other time i would want the rain, but I love not having to worry about tornados and my kids go to bed a lot easier without the storms. I know the storms will come and the tornado threat will too, but I am enjoying not having to worry about it daily so far...
I love the blog by the way and read it every day.

SONIA:
Thanks for the nice comments!!

GARY; PLEASE DO THOSE OF US WHO LIVE EAST OF THE CITY A FAVOR AND STAND ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE SCREEN PART TIME SO WE CAN SEE THE RADAR AND SEE IF WE ARE IN THE RAIN PATTERN. SEEMS AS THOUGH ALL STATIONS PUT MOST OF THEIR EMPHASIS ON JOHNSON COUNTY OR THE METRO AREA. THANKS. P.S. I WAS AN ENGINEER (STUDIO CAMERMAN AT WDAF-TV FOR 33 YEARS) NOW LIVE EAST OF ODESSA. I ENJOY YOUR WEATHER. KEN GRAVES ODESSA MO.

Ken,

We get in a bad habbit of standing on the east side of the screen. I will make sure we step off to the other side of the map so we can see the entire area, or at least walk off the map so you can see.
