Fracto Cumulus clouds
Jamie is making me do an entry on Fracto Cumulus clouds, since I just said I would on the air. So, here it goes......
Fracto cumulus clouds are low clouds near the ground, usually in rain cooled air. These are usually small clouds with separation from other clouds and these usually indicate that the air has just stablized. Rain may still be falling, but the thunderstorms have moved off to the east, sort of like what is happening this evening.

Looked kike a wild evening for a while there. I was watching the radar when I saw out the window a line of clouds turn and rapidly move Southeastward. At the time on radar I watched an outflow boundry seperate itself from a strong bow echo in Southern Leavenworth county Kansas. I knew when I saw that rapidly moving Outflow Boundry that the storms where starting to break down. It Quickly cooled down from all the Hail and rain Cooled air from the Afternoon storms. I got rather concerned when I saw a TVS on the radar Somewhere between Tonginoxie and Basheor in Leavenworth County Kansas. When I was that TVS I started thinking here we go again, May 4th again.
Steve,
It wasn't even close to May 4th. And, the set up for Thursday is not impressing me at all. We may have some severe weather, then much colder air is on the way.

Gary,
This is off topic but I have to ask- last night on the news you said that Windy was retired. How is she doing? You've got some great dogs and we all love hearing about them!
Kathy,
Windy is doing well. I plan on taking her with me Tuesday as we are going to dinner on the Plaza for "dogs night out". I am also going to a school in Overland Park, so Windy gets to come along tomorrow. It is difficult on me to have her here at work, so she only makes an occasional appearance now. Windy is 15 1/2 years old, some Arthritis, but still loving life. Most days she is just resting at home.
