Miss #4
I am about to do the weather tonight at 10 PM. We just looked at the new data and there is nothing. I mean, no rain is forecast by the NGM and NAM models. A cold front will move through Wednesday night and this will end the chance of rain for days. Unbelievable! I am doing a special presentation during the weather to show all of the misses. 3 so far with 2 more to go.

Just received this website of some pictures that were taken today by a person from Missouri Southern State University, in Joplin, Mo. during their thunderstorms today.Thought you might find them interesting. http://www.mssu.edu/infoserv/clouds
MARY:
Cool pictures! I think Gary ran some video of this very thing last night at 10pm. Very interesting!
Thanks for posting!

Do you still see the pattern switching based on the 77-day cycle you talked about? It's getting on toward June and we are still seeing a lot of northwest flow and low humidity.
Rob,
It will be quite interesting in the next two weeks. The chance of it remainind dry is there, but it won't take much. Rain has been all around us. The new GFS model this afternoon gave us a lot of rain beginning next week, but there is no trend. It had been dry for the past two days, and then suddenly it looks wet. We should know by Monday.

Those pictures someone else posted of those weird clouds are really cool! What is the explanation behind their weird appearance?
STACI:
The interesting clouds spotted in Southern Missouri were caused by thunderstorms. They could have come from a number of factors... rain-cooled outflow from the thunderstorms... turbulent eddies mixing down moisture... or virga (precipitation that falls, but doesn't reach the ground).
Pretty neat stuff, huh?!

DEAR GARY:
I HAVE NO WEATHER TRAINING BUT IT BECAME VERY CLEAR THAT ALL THE NEAR MISSES WE HAVE EXPERIENCED ON THE RAIN RECENTLY MAY BE DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE LARGE NBC PEACOCK THAT IS PLACED RIGHT OVER THE KANSAS CITY AREA. PERHAPS IF WE MOVE IT UP NORTH A WAYS OR DOWN SOUTH, THAT WOULD ALLOW THE FRONTS TO MOVE ON THROUGH OUR AREA. JUST A THOUGHT. PERHAPS IF THIS TURNS OUT TO BE THE CAUSE, WE COULD LEASE THE PEACOCK TO THE CHIEFS AND THE ROYALS TO USE AS A "DOME" OF SORTS SO WE CAN HOST ALL STAR GAMES AND SUPER BOWELS!!!! YOU ALL DO A GREAT JOB.!

Gary & TEAM. I really appreciate the passion in which you forecast the weather.
I found some great pics taken by people in SW MO on May 24th on this website...very turbulent winds. Go to: www.coasttocoastam.com I would send them to you if you can send me your email address.
Thanks for the enjoyment you bring to this amateur meterologist. I grew up on a Sandhills Dairy Farm in NC Nebraska near O'Neill. We had big sky fields there. I miss it in the clutter of the big city. :-( Too much light pollution also!
Go to: www.spaceweather.com to their Aurora Galleries, to see beautiful pics of Aurora displays weekend of May14-15, even in MO. You will like these!
Your friend in Grandview.
Do you need a weather spotter in Grandview?
Can I apply for this job? Ha! What's it pay?
HAAHAAHA! right? Randall
RANDALL:
