No Heat Wave, just Nice summertime weather
I am back from vacation. It was a nice time to get away and sleep in. The weather has settled into summer like it is suppose to do in late June.
Kansas City averages 4.42" of rain in July and around 3.5" in August. And, this is what I am expecting this summer. We haven't had a heat wave yet, and I don't see any in the near future. A cold front is coming through Thursday and there are others to follow. The best chance of rain may arrive Sunday into mid next week. Look below at the forecast rainfall from the GFS this morning for the 60 hour period Monday through Wednesday. Wow! That is a 10" bulls eye!!!! Let's track it and see how it sets up early next week.

Gary - Glad to hear you had a nice bit of time off. Happy to here about the rain. I keep wondering if I need to break down and water the lawn or just give up not knowing how the Summer will turn out. Anyhow, just a suggestion... you should put the weather blog link on the front page of nbcactionnews.com. I guarantee it will increase the hits by about 50% in a month's time. If people like what they see you will hold and perhaps increase that. Also, you should sit down with Ms. Alex on air and go through the weather blog with her. It's good comedy the way she plays it off but I think that is a solid opportunity to really get this off the ground. Well, that and bad weather. Cheers!
Harold,
Thanks for the suggestions. I will pass it along. The Action Weather Blog should be on the front page.
More bad weather next week!!!

Hi Gary:
I wondered why the weather is never cationed? I am hearing impaired and use closed caption. Also how are windy and the other one? I have watched you for a very long time when you were at channel 4
Patricia,
Weather used to be captioned. I will look into it. Windy and Stormy are doing well. Windy is almost 16 years old.

Dear Gary,
My wife and I were watching the 10p weather. we both though that your grandmother was so cute! She sure seems keen of mind at 97. She seems like a great lady to be around.

Gary,
What does GFS stand for?
Keep up the good work.
AWEST,
GFS stands Global Forecast System. It is predicting a lot of rain for next week.

what constitutes a kansas heat wave? i'm from texas, so i know what their heat waves are like...but this is my 4th summer in kansas...and the last week and a half have not been very fun!
Anne,
We define a heat wave as at least three consecutive days above 95 degrees. It was a nice hot stretch, but we didn't quite have a heat wave. Are you enjoying the 64 degree weather today?

Yesterday was AWESOME! I wish every day would be like that...off and on with the storms, the rain, the sun and what an amazing lightning-filled night we had! A few of us were at a coffeehouse off 87th street and saw a rainbow just as the sun was dipping below the horizon around 9:10pm last night. The sky color was amazing and then to have a rainbow and lightning around it....Ok...I'll stop now :-)
ANNE:
Sounds beautiful... wish I could have seen it! I did see some neat clouds and of course, lots of lightning!! :)
