A break in the heat by Monday?
Thunderstorms and cooler weather may arrive as early as Monday. Confidence is growing that we will see some thunderstorms with the front as it weakens near Kansas City early next week. Look at the latest 84 hour NAM surface. Rain is forming just north near the front. And, watch out for Hurricane Emily, it could have an affect on our weather within 10 days.

The cold front near the Nebrasaka/Kansas border Monday morning will be weakening and drifting our way. There is a chance we could have excessive rainfall with this set up. We will know a lot more over the weekend.

Just a Thought. I think the Hurricane Emily could slams into Texas. (1) will The Cold front move through before Emily hits Texas ? Could Emily hit Texas before the Cold front moves through ?
(2) Could the Cold Front combine with the Remains of Emily as it Moves through combining the Gulf Moisture and creating a major Deluge of rain ? Just some thought I have.

Steve,
The cold front appears to be quite weak as it gets close to Kansas City Monday. And, the latest data takes Emily into Mexico. Could the cold front and Emily combine? Yes, but I think the chance of us getting any impact from Emily is extremely low, like 2% right now. Hopefully the pattern will shift a bit in the next week.

It has been soooo dry in Northern Cass County for the past month. Only 1 inch of rain since middle of June.
What are the prospects for rain in next 6 weeks? Is there a reason the SE area of metro is missing the precipitation this summer? Is there relief in sight?
DWIGHT:
The weather pattern just hasn't been a wet one for you... I know it's frustrating! It looks like the dry weather will continue here for the next several days as a ridge builds in. It will also be extremely hot! The next chance of showers isn't until next Tuesday... and only a 20% chance at this point.
